Optional Excursions

Our tours are carefully planned to offer you a comfortable balance of sightseeing, entertainment, and leisure time. Optional Excursions provide the flexibility to choose between leisure time or additional sightseeing activities. The optional excursions we offer are listed alphabetically on the following pages along with approximate prices and times. Detailed descriptions and current pricing of the specific excursions for your tour will be included with your Trip Documents Packet.

• Unless otherwise noted, optional excursions must be booked with and paid to your tour manager in Europe.

• Prices in this brochure are in U.S. Dollars. VISA®, MASTERCARD®, or DISCOVER (no other credit cards are accepted) are recommended to avoid carrying excessive cash and exchange rate fluctuations. You must be able to present the actual card to your tour manager. If you bring a DISCOVER card, be sure to also bring a VISA® or MASTERCARD® because DISCOVER is not widely accepted in Europe.

• Cash payments during the tour must be in Euros.

• Personal checks and traveler’s checks are not accepted.

• Operation of all excursions is subject to sufficient participation, and some excursions are subject to favorable weather conditions. Your tour manager reserves the right to make changes to or cancel these excursions at his/her sole discretion.

In Florence, US $45

A local guide will point out some of the highlights of the Accademia Gallery in Florence, with a focus on one of Michelangelo’s most famous sculptures, "David."




8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
from Montecatini, US $65

Along the Mediterranean coast lie five quiet villages known as Cinque Terre. Since transportation and roads are limited between the cliffside villages, you will travel by boat. Enjoy free time in two of the villages. Operation of this excursion is subject to favorable weather. In the case of halted ferry operation, transportation between villages will be by train.

Enjoy a guided tour of the Colosseum interior. Dating from 80 AD, this is one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and engineering. The visit also includes entrance and guidance through the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill..

Experience a guided tour of Pompeii, discovered in a 1748 excavation from the layers of ash deposited during the 79 AD Mount Vesuvius volcanic eruption. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Pompeii provides extraordinary insight into the life of a city at the height of the Roman Empire. This excursion includes dinner upon your return to the hotel.

A unique evening awaits you at a spirited restaurant in the heart of Rome. You will be served a multicourse dinner of Italian specialties, accompanied by wine. Following dinner, singers will bring some of Italy’s most beloved arias to life during engaging and entertaining performances.

While in Siena, join a local guide for a tour of the breathtaking 13th-century Duomo. This Gothic cathedral houses artistic treasures by Donatello, Bernini and Michelangelo. Sections of the ornate mosaic floor are also on display.

in Rome, US $75

Enter the Vatican City, a 110 acre sovereign city-state within the city of Rome. A local guide will provide commentary as you tour the Vatican Museums, which house some of the most renowned masterpieces of Renaissance art including the Sistine Chapel featuring Michelangelo’s frescoed ceiling and "The Last Judgment." Your visit also includes St. Peter’s Basilica, where you will find Michelangelo’s ‘Pieta’.

At the end of your day in Venice, join your tour manager for dinner at Al Giardinetto Restaurant with its beautiful vine-clad courtyard, and relaxing atmosphere. The dinner includes a glass of wine, local specialties, and dessert.
