Optional Excursions

Our tours are carefully planned to offer you a comfortable balance of sightseeing, entertainment, and leisure time. Experience shows, however, that many travelers like to use their free time to make one or more additional excursions. The optional excursions we offer are listed alphabetically below along with approximate prices and times, as well as the cities from which they are operated.

  • Optionals must be booked with and paid to your tour manager in Europe.
  • Prices are in American Dollars and are based on payment with VISA, MASTERCARD, or DISCOVER (no other credit cards are accepted). Visa, MasterCard and Discover are the recommended form of payment to avoid carrying excessive cash and exchange rate fluctuations. When paying by credit card, you must be able to present the actual card to your tour manager. Please Note: If you bring a DISCOVER card, be sure to also bring a VISA or MASTERCARD because, while Discover is accepted for optional excursion payments, it is not always accepted for other payments in Europe. In those special circumstances where cash is the only available form of payment, the tour manager will provide a pricing chart based on the local currency. Cash payments during the tour must be in the local currency.
  • Please note that personal checks and traveler's checks are not accepted.
  • Prices featured below are subject to change. Current pricing will be provided with Final Documents.
  • Operation of all excursions is subject to sufficient participation, and some excursions are subject to favorable weather conditions. Your tour manager reserves the right to make changes to or cancel these excursions at his/her sole discretion.

'BAVARIAN PALACE'
8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
from Innsbruck area, US $65

Visit Linderhof Palace, including a walk through the gardens and a guided tour of the extravagant interior. Then, stop in the village of Oberammergau, to admire the frescoed buildings. Complete the day with a drive through scenic Bavaria and a photo stop to view the famous Neuschwanstein Castle exterior (picture stop, not an interior visit).

'GRAND HOLLAND'
8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
in Holland, US $50

Drive through the lovely countryside and visit a picturesque Dutch village. You will spend the afternoon in Amsterdam, with its colorful, gabled canal houses and bridges. A panoramic city tour through the canals by glass-top boat is followed by free time to visit one of the fine museums or the Anne Frank House.

'PARIS EVENING'
7:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
in Paris, US $75

Your French cuisine experience at a true Paris Bistro is accompanied by roving musicians. Dinner includes wine or another beverage and features a tantalizing choice of French dishes including Escargots, Quiche Lorraine, Duck l'Orange, and an assortment of cheeses. Your return trip provides memorable impressions of this celebrated city.

'SEINE RIVER CRUISE'
11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
in Paris, US $20

Glide along the Seine River on a boat ride, while passing impressive landmarks such as Notre Dame, the Louvre, and the Eiffel Tower. This is the perfect way to see the major sights in Paris.

'SWISS LAKE BOAT RIDE'
2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
from Swiss Lake Region hotel, US $35

Board a steamer for a relaxing and scenic cruise on Lake Lucerne, also known as 'Vierwaldstättersee' ('Lake of the Four Forest Cantons'). Much of the shoreline rises steeply into mountains up to 5,000 feet above the lake, creating an awesome backdrop. During the boat ride, your captain will point out some of the impressive estates visible along the lakeshore.

'SWISS MOUNTAIN'
9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
from Lucerne, US $65

A vintage cogwheel railway transports you to the first platform. Reach the summit of Mt. Stanserhorn (elevation 6,232 feet) via the world's only open-top cable car. At the top, enjoy the panorama on the terrace of the mountain top restaurant, take a walk along the paths, and capture the magnificent vistas with your camera. This excursion is subject to favorable weather and cable car operation, and may be rescheduled or cancelled; or another cable car location may be substituted.

'TYROLEAN SHOW & DINNER'
7:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
from Innsbruck area hotel, US $60

Begin the evening with a traditional Austrian meal of Schnitzel and Apfelstrudel. Then transfer to Innsbruck where the Gundolf Family welcomes you for an entertaining performance of traditional Tyrolean songs, unique dances, amusing instruments, and expert yodeling. Get ready for an unforgettable evening filled with laughter and music.

'VENICE'
8:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m.
from Bussolengo, US $95

A private boat will transfer you from the mainland, through the Venetian Lagoon, to the center of Venice. A guided walking tour provides introduction to the history, culture and architecture before concluding with a visit to a glass-blowing work shop. If you have your heart set on gliding through the canals of Venice by gondola, the cost is about $45 per person based on six people per gondola. Conclude your visit with included dinner at a characteristic 'ristorante' in the heart of Venice.
